The essentials before you get started with CADD.
CADD is a Canadian-dollar stablecoin issued by Tetra Trust Company. It brings Canadian-dollar value onchain for payments, settlement and other digital transactions.
CADD is backed 1:1 by Canadian-dollar reserve assets. For every CADD issued, an equivalent Canadian-dollar amount is held in the CADD Reserve Trust and invested in permitted Canadian liquid assets. CADD is redeemable for $1 CAD per CADD, subject to the applicable redemption terms. Prices on third-party platforms may vary based on market conditions.
CADD is issued by Tetra Trust Company, a Canadian trust corporation supervised by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance. CAD Digital acts as Tetra Trust’s agent in arranging the issuance, distribution and redemption of CADD.
Eligible individuals can purchase CADD through supported platforms and decentralized exchanges. Eligible businesses and distribution partners can also work directly with CAD Digital through its institutional issuance and redemption infrastructure.
CADD is available on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo and Arc. The supported network list may change over time. Users should always confirm the current network and contract address before sending CADD.
Eligible holders can request to redeem CADD through supported platforms or directly with Tetra. Once the redemption requirements under the CADD Terms and Conditions are met, the CADD is burned and the corresponding Canadian dollars are transferred to the holder’s bank account.
CAD Digital publishes the CADD reserve ratio daily. Baker Tilly prepares independent monthly reserve attestations, and the CADD Reserve Trust is subject to an annual financial statement audit.
No. CADD is designed to maintain Canadian-dollar value, not to generate investment returns, appreciate in value or pay interest to holders.
No. CADD is a digital asset and is not a bank deposit or money held in an account in your name with a financial institution. CADD is also not legal tender and CADD holdings are not covered by CDIC deposit insurance.
Tetra Trust Company, the issuer of CADD, is prudentially regulated by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance. CADD has been approved by Alberta’s Minister of Treasury Board and Finance.
It depends on how you access CADD. Some supported platforms manage the wallet experience for you, while self-custody applications require you to manage your own wallet and private keys.
